We took a two man kayak out for 35 Euros. We had four hrs to explore the marshland around Faro aboard an easy to use kayak. We encountered a vast array of birds for the twitcher in me. And took lunch for a secluded picnic on a deserted beach. Friendly staff, great value and a stunning way to take in the local wildlife.
I booked this trip as a surprise for my boyfriend and I hit the mark! We enjoyed it a lot! Our guide David was very friendly, explained a lot and taught us how to sail. He seemed very professional and I think he enjoys a lot what he is doing!!! We will definitely go on sailing and will for sure come back!
We took a 2 hour guided kayak tour in the Ria Formosa nature reserve last week and had the most wonderful time. The scenery is beautiful. Our guide told us all about the wildlife, plants and environmental issues and pointed out lots of birds that we would probably have missed on our own. It was the highlight of our holiday! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.
Myself, my wife and my children (aged 14 and 12) enjoyed a fantastic morning exploring the Ludo area near Faro with Lands.
Our guide, Barbara, was extremely well informed about the birds, plants and other wildlife of this beautiful and tranquil area.
She guided us expertly to just the right places to get the best views of the birds. We saw at least 40 different species of bird in only three hours, including: booted eagles, purple swamphen, hoopoe, azure-winged magpie, Sardinian warblers, black headed weavers, avocets, serin, marsh sandpiper and bee-eaters to name but a few. I thoroughly recommend this tour. You certainly don’t have to be a fanatical birdwatcher to enjoy it. It would really suit anyone with any interest in the wildlife of the Algarve or even just a curiosity about what the region is like away from the tourist resorts. Muito obrigado to Barbara and Lands for such a wonderful experience which was easily the highlight of our short stay in the Algarve.
Splendid morning out with the kids. Tucked out the way behind the bus depot (!) it took moments to be paddling away under the bridge out into the beautiful Rio Famosa. Our lovely guide delivered an educational tour on the local bird and marine life. We stopped on a sandbank for a rest and a little swim. We were with kids aged between 7 and 10 and they all had fun kayaking, swimming and shell collecting. Highly recommended for an active morning out with the kids. The 2-hour trip was perfect for kids in the younger age range that we had with us.
For our last day in Algarve we decided to book an half day of sailing with lands.pt, as the marina of Faro is very close to the airport.
It was really perfect: it’s a small boat of six ==> “private” cruise just with our 4 and the skipper.
He was very pleasant and learn us a lot about sailing, Ria Formosa and Portugal in general.
I recommend this company.
We bumped into Lands by chance while walking around Faro. We booked for the next day very easily over the phone for the 4 hours sailing trip.
We really enjoyed the whole experience despite having not much wind that day. David, our skipper, was very informative and could describe most of the birds in French and English (We are French). He made sure that despite the lack of wind at the beginning we could enjoy using the sails at the end even if it made the trip longer than planned. His charming personality, plus the beautiful landscapes, the stops over on the different islands, the opportunity to learn about sailing… and the wind that came out half way made the whole thing really worthwhile.
